Due to the Archive's (eerily-timed and recently announced!) downtime on October 1, the posting deadline will be pushed back by six hours so it won't interfere with anyone trying to upload their assignment at the last minute. The new posting deadline is now October 1, 6 AM MST.

Anyone who doesn't get their work up by the deadline will be defaulted and their recipient will go out on the pinch hit list. I am granting extensions. In previous years extensions were not allowed, but under the circumstances (like, you know...everything in the world right now...) I'm open to it, so please reach out if you need one. Hey guys, Remix Madness is now open for prompts! Apologies for the delay, real life has been getting in the way frequently lately.

Madness will stay open for prompts and fills throughout the rest of the exchange, until both collections are revealed in October.

A few refresher rules:

No rules on what you can submit for remixing in Madness. There are no minimum requirements for fandoms, and you can list WIPs or crossovers.
IF YOU WANT A COLLABORATION TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR REMIXING: All creators involved in the creation of the work must be signed up for Madness, and give permission for that work to be remixed.
You don't have to be signed up for the main Remix round to participate in Madness.
No requirements as far as works go - create whatever you like, long or short!
You can mark as many works/fandoms safe as you'd like for Madness. You're also free to put whatever requests you'd like in your sign up, such as "please don't remix any of my Kirk/Spock fics," or "I only want x, y, and z to be remixed".
WIPs, collaborations, and crossovers are OPT-IN. That means if you wish to remix one of these for someone else, they must indicate on their prompt that they are okay with it.
No WIPs allowed. Whatever you create must be complete, for both Madness and the main Remix round.

Sign ups are open! They'll stay open until August 18 at 11:59 PM, MST. Remix madness sign ups will begin on August 20.

A few reminders:

To sign up, you must have a minimum of three (3) 500-word fics, a minimum of five (5) 100-word fics, or a minimum of three (3) drawings in each requested fandom. Your qualifying fic/art should already be at the URL you provide when you sign up.
You may include up to 20 fandoms per request; it is not necessary to have more than one request unless you have a reason for splitting your offers (like you want to receive fic for some fandoms but would prefer art for other fandoms).
You may leave the text box blank if you don't have any safe works/previous remixes.
If you're a writer, you want to choose Fic Remixed As Fic and/or Fic Remixed As Art, depending on your preferences. If you're an artist, you want to choose Art Remixed As Art and/or Art Remixed As Fic. If you have enough qualifying fic AND art in your requested fandoms, you can do both. If you have fic and art in different fandoms, or want to request different things in different fandoms, you can add a second request.
The URL you include for your work MUST be easily navigated by fandom. This means you must either link to your AO3 dashboard/works page, OR an index elsewhere that has your works sorted by fandom. Unless you have only/primarily written/drawn in a single fandom, you should NOT link to a general fic/art tag on your tumblr. The reason for this is that while your remixer can do something in a different fandom than you matched on, they must still be able to easily find your works in the fandom you matched on.
You are limited to 3 individual safe works, 1 safe series, and/or 1 safe fandom per signup (not per request). Safe fandoms may be an umbrella fandom or "all media types" fandom.
All fandoms in your request must be AO3 canonical tags. Whenever possible, choose the most unique version of your fandom (i.e., "Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2014)" instead of "Marvel Cinematic Universe.")

Hi guys! Hope you're all safe and healthy. I'm down to run this exchange again for 2020, but as I have another exchange running from July - September, I'll probably need to push the time frame back a bit. Below is a tentative 2020 schedule and feedback on it is welcome:

The longer period between the deadline and the reveal is to take the pressure off pinch hitters, but also to allow folks to explore Remix Madness, which is still open for prompts. Remember there's no minimum requirements for works created for madness, and no limit to how many safe works/fandoms/pseuds (and no minimum requirement for number of works in a requested fandom) for prompts.
