An introduction, and some news on 2019!
Hello! Some good news: after speaking with
slightweasel, I've offered to take over modding this exchange, so that means Remix Revival will be running in 2019. Nice to meet you!
I'm planning on running the 2019 round over the same general time period, and I've put together a tentative schedule below, but I'm open to feedback on it from anyone who would be interested in participating. Any general feedback about last year's round is very welcome as well - what went particularly well for you? Is there anything you would like to see changed?
Two important housekeeping notes:
- The Dreamwidth account, Tumblr, and parent collection on AO3 will stay the same, as
slightweasel has passed them all down to me. However, the email address to reach me is now mod4remixrevival@gmail.com. Blame gmail and their weird notifications.
- Deadlines are now in Mountain Standard Time (because that's where your new mod lives).
And finally, my (again, very tentative) schedule for 2019:
Signups begin: July 1
Signups end: July 20 11:59 PM MST
Assignments out by: July 27
Assignments due: September 1, 11:59 PM MST
Collection opens: September 16
Remixers revealed: September 23
Feel free to reach out to me via email, or leave your comments directly on this post. Thanks, and here's to a fun remix round in 2019! 🥂

If the series already exists but only has one work in, will marking that safe be my safe series or one of my three safe works?
I'm going to guess the answer to this is no, but can I safe-fandom out everything in one fandom except the crossovers? Because filter my fics to include only Ancient Greek Religion and Lore and there's fifteen, twelve of which I don't want remixed and the other three are also tagged with song fandoms because I wrote them for

If the series only has one work so far, then it doesn't count as a series (yet). You would mark that as one of your safe works.
Crossovers aren't eligible to be remixed.* However, if the crossover in question is more of a fusion (i.e., a story that is really just a Buffy the Vampire Slayer fic, but is tagged with "Leverage" because the Buffy characters are written into a Leverage AU), or if the two crossover fandoms are related (i.e., an Avengers story that is tagged with multiple versions of MCU canon), then I would consider an exception. I'll be taking that on a case by case basis.
ETA: * Apologies if I phrased this unclearly: what I meant is that crossovers don't count as qualifying works in order to request a fandom in your sign up. You'll need at least 3 stories in a particular fandom that are complete, not collabs/remixes, over 100 words, and not crossovers in order for that fandom to be eligible. Based on that criteria, it sounds like Greek Religion and Lore wouldn't be an option for you anyway, sorry!
What I would suggest for your particular situation is marking Greek Religion and Lore as safe in your main sign up, and then submitting a prompt to Madness for the crossover stories you'd like to see remixed.

Thanks!
—wait, could I qualify for October Daye? I have eight fics there, six of which I wrote for a lightning round of

So if we go strictly by the AO3 canonical, I qualify in Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters (Anime & Manga). Problem is the AO3 canonical is full of shit, and if we separate Season 0 from what people are much more likely to be familiar with, I qualify in neither.
Modly opinion on whether I should add Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters (Anime & Manga) to my sign-up?
† The first seven volumes of the Yu-Gi-Oh! manga were adapted into the anime that gets referred to as Season 0 or Series 0. Subsequent volumes were adapted into the anime that exists in English dub. One character who has very little presence in the manga and does not exist in the second anime is a major character in Season 0. A lot of character arcs in the second anime make sense if and only if certain character arcs in the first anime never happened; those character arcs do parallel character arcs in the manga, but not in a way that makes for incoherent characterization if only looking at the manga. And there are plot arcs in each anime that aren't related to the manga at all. So we have three distinct continuities under this one canonical tag.

If you want to request it, and the canonical tag isn't specific enough, I would advise you to follow the spirit of the rules and not include it. If those are two separate fandoms, then I would treat them as such regardless of whether AO3 has a separate tag for them or not.

How might this play into "don't change the pairing"?
Because I can see convincing arguments for both "if it's Ladrien without Marichat, it needs to stay Ladrien without Marichat, because Ladrien and Marichat are totally different dynamics" and "it's the same two characters so the difference between Ladrien and Marichat is immaterial". Going with the former answer could impact remixes of esp the "happens before remixee" and "happens after remixee" varieties in ways the latter answer can't, because a favorite trope in ML fandom is Identity Reveal. If it's important that a remix of a pre-reveal Adrienette-only fic stay Adrienette-only, then the remix must also be pre-reveal.
I'm hoping for "it's the same AO3-canonical pairing tag regardless", but I don't know.
