Remix Revival is a GO!!!
Just a quick update to say that, as it is July 1 and Remix Redux has not put out a schedule for this year, Remix Revival WILL be happening. Signups will open two weeks from today. The full schedule will be as follows:
Signups begin: July 15
Signups end: July 30 11:59 PM ET
Assignments out by: August 5
Assignments due: September 10, 11:59 PM ET
Collection goes live: September 17
Remixers revealed: September 24
The AO3 collection is here.
If you have any questions/concerns/suggestions, you can leave a comment on any post here. I am open to making rule changes etc until signups open, at which point I will be very reluctant to change anything unless it's absolutely necessary.

1. I have a number of fics written in different fandoms and would like to offer them as request to potentially cover more remixers. Can the things I request and the things I offer to remix be totally different fandoms? Because in the description it sounded like I have to be willing to also write for the fandoms I request and that makes no sense to me.
2. Regarding safe works. I also have a number of fics that I'm conflicted about, but I don't want to delete them because there might be people who still enjoy them even if I don't. However, the active thought of people reading them makes me uncomfortable. Most of them I've grouped into an extra pseud and all of them can only be viewed by AO3 users.
That makes choosing three individual safe works difficult.
Now, my AO3 is split up into 4 pseuds: (1) post-2011 fics and old ones I'm fond of, (2) pre-2011 ones and newer ones I'm not so fond of, (3) I hope you don't read this, and (4) podfics.
a) So if I sign up using the URL of pseud (1), would the remixer only be allowed to choose from any of the works provided there, or would they also be allowed to choose from my other pseuds?
That would help me eliminate the worst of it.
b) Can I make a note saying that I'd prefer it if people didn't remix the AO3-locked fics but that I wouldn't hold it against anyone if they chose them anyway? I know this might be a bit weighted, but it might also help the remixer narrow down their choices because I have 300 fics on the pseud I want to link and the vast majority of them are open to everyone.
I hope this is not too confusing.

2a. They would be allowed to choose from your other pseuds as well. I am potentially open to changing this for next year's round, but all of the rules etc right now say people can remix any available fic on your AO3 account, and I don't want to change a major rule this far into signups for this year's round.
2b. No, please don't include a note like that. After signups close, I'll be going through them to remove any "negative" notes, even ones that try to be nice about it. I don't want anyone's remixer to feel discouraged from remixing anything that is "legal" for them to remix.
That said, I think it's unlikely that your remixer would even click through to your other pseuds as long as you made sure the link you provided led to the pseud you want remixed. It's still possible they would, of course, but considering that most people seem to only have one AO3 pseud themselves, I doubt it would occur to most people!

The thing is, AO3 shows you all works from all pseuds when you click on "Dashboard" again, which is what I would do when I want to see the fandom list again.
Could I perhaps set that pseud as safe? I think for people with several hundred fics, only getting three safe works is a bit out of proportion (thank you for the possibility of setting a safe series and safe fandom in this exchange though. That is helpful).

As far as the safe works not being proportional, they aren't meant to be, for several reasons. The first is that, ideally, the people signing up for remix would be comfortable with having most of their works remixed, safe working only a handful of things they're sensitive about for one reason or another. The second is that making sure people didn't have too many safe works would be much work for me to double-check, as I would have to calculate how many safe works each person was allowed to have to make sure they were under the limit. Far easier to have a flat limit that is the same for everyone.
All of that said, there will be a Madness Round running from 10-25 September. Among other things, there will be no limit to safe works for the madness round, so maybe that would be more your style for this year?
